Kia ora, I’m Jen. I’m in my mid-40s and a provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). My path into counselling has been shaped by both professional experience and my own lived journey, including the challenges that led me to seek deeper understanding, compassion, and connection.
During my training, I completed my placement hours at the Women’s Centre. The work there was incredibly fulfilling and deeply affirmed my commitment to supporting women and those seeking a safe, empowering space. It’s work I hope to continue alongside my private practice.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working as a chef. I loved the creativity and fast-paced nature of the kitchen, but over time I felt called toward work that supported people more directly. My own life struggles opened the door to counselling, and I discovered how powerful it can be to sit with someone as they explore their world. That experience guided me into the work I do now.
Outside of the counselling room, I’m most grounded when I’m with my family, my husband and our two children. The beach is my favourite place to unwind and reconnect with myself; it’s where I feel most at peace and closest to nature.
At Fern & Flow, I bring all of these experiences together: warmth, creativity, understanding, and a genuine belief in each person’s ability to heal and rediscover themselves. If you choose to work with me, you’ll find a gentle, supportive space where you’re welcome just as you are.
